The Les Tres Xemeneies del Besòs urban regeneration project is emerging as an opportunity to expand the housing supply in the Barcelona metropolitan area and promote a new neighborhood model based on residential diversity and social cohesion.
During the “L’hora del Besòs” debate, held as part of the BCN Desperta! forum, Metrovacesa CEO Jorge Pérez de Leza noted that the development includes more than 1,700 housing units, 40% of which will be affordable housing, with half of these units designated for rent and the other half for sale.
One of the most significant aspects of the project is the integration of market-rate and affordable housing within the same buildings and urban spaces, promoting coexistence and preventing residential segregation. All housing units will meet high standards of construction quality, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
The new neighborhood is also designed to be an open environment, without gated communities, featuring accessible public spaces and a large coastal park of approximately 10 hectares that will strengthen the connection between the city and the sea.
During the meeting, institutional representatives also emphasized the importance of creating new housing opportunities so that residents of Sant Adrià de Besòs can continue to live in their city, while also attracting new residents.
In this way, Les Tres Xemeneies del Besòs is committed to an urban transformation that combines affordable housing, quality of life, and social cohesion, helping to create a new space of opportunities for the entire metropolitan area.
